Sioux Falls Resident Advances in NASCAR Powerball Playoff

Barbara Wipf’s excitement for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series may be even greater than usual thanks to the results of a second chance draw.

Barbara is one of 16 nationwide finalists for the NASCAR Powerball Playoff promotion, giving the Sioux Falls resident a chance to win a VIP Trip to Phoenix and $1 million. Barbara was one of 10 South Dakotans who had a chance to become one of the 16 national finalists.

“My first reaction was I thought it was a scam, and when I realized it wasn't I couldn't believe it,” Barbara said.

Barbara will now take part in the next stage of the NASCAR Powerball Playoff, which is very similar to NASCAR’s Cup Series playoff. Throughout the upcoming weeks, a series of national drawings will take place that eliminate four semi-finalists each.

The final four semifinalists will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Phoenix for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race and will participate in a final drawing for $1 million.

As an avid NASCAR fan, the potential VIP experience appealed to Barbara and prompted her and her husband to enter non-winning lotto tickets into South Dakota’s second chance drawing.

“We love watching NASCAR,” Barbara said. “I entered the non-winning tickets because it was a chance for something we both enjoy. I can't put it into words. It's a once in a lifetime experience.”

The next NASCAR Powerball Playoff drawing will take place September 9. We wish Barbara good luck!
